Themes & styling
Calendar Events ships with 8 built-in themes — 4 styles, each in a light and dark variant. Pick one under Design in the widget settings, then optionally override individual colors to match your brand exactly.
The 4 styles
| Style | Look |
|---|---|
| Simple | Flat, minimal, slate-gray — gets out of the way |
| Bold | Poster-like cards with a hard accent shadow and uppercase buttons |
| Editorial | Warm paper background, serif headings, restrained underline links |
| Fresh | Mint/teal palette, rounded cards, friendly and current |
Each is available as -light or -dark (e.g. Bold Light, Bold Dark), for 8 total themes.
Color overrides
Within any theme you can override individual tokens without leaving the preset behind:
- Background color — the widget’s outer background (or
transparent) - Card background color — individual event cards
- Primary color — buttons, links, active states
- Secondary color — highlights, shadows, decorative accents (used by Bold)
- Border color
- Text color
- Button text color
- Muted text color — dates, locations, secondary copy
Leave an override blank to keep the selected theme’s default for that token.
Responsive by default
All themes and all display modes adapt to the width of the column they’re placed in — week and month grids scroll horizontally on narrow placements, and event cards reflow for mobile widths automatically. There’s nothing to configure for mobile separately.
